Marlee Turns 3

Marlee turned 3 on August 18, 2009. Where does the time go? We kicked off the birthday week making cupcakes. Had dinner with friends at Salsaritas on Monday. Had snacks at daycare and cake and friends on her birthday night. She was so excited to be three. The day after her birthday on the way to daycare she asked, "Mommy, am I still 3?" - so cute. She got clothes, play dough, movies, and lots of art stuff. Happy Birthday baby!

Carowinds 2009

For some reason I decided that we needed to have one more little trip before school started back and of course the weather ended up being 90+ degrees, oh well. Before we melted away, we had a good time. Marlee I think had the best time, there were plenty of things for her to ride and Dora, Diego, Blues Clues, and several other characters were at the Meet and Greet Station. Dora of course was in top demand. She had to go visit Dora several times as well as Diego. Marlee rode the kids swings and yelled over to me "this is not too bad:-)" what I had told her to encourage her to ride. McKena got to ride a few bigger roller coasters than she had ever ridden in the past. Next year will go when the weather is a bit cooler.

Big Bang Boom!

McKena attended a week of camp at the Children's Museum in downtown Greensboro. She had a good time and on the last day they got to perform a show. Her group was called "The Cowgirls" hence the cowgirl attire you see in the picture. Of course the song they picked was by Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus - Hoe Down Throw Down. Very cute:-)

Waterplay!

At daycare every few weeks they get to do waterplay. It's so easy to get Marlee to go to school in the mornings when you say it's waterplay day. She was ready to go with her Dora bookbag full of her towels and clothes, her sandals, and new summer hair cut. Yeah for waterplay!

Lazy Saturday Mornings

Nothing beats hanging out with the girls on a Saturday morning. No worries, just having fun, playing with the photo booth on the computer.

At the zoo

For the long 4th of July weekend we took a trip to the Asheboro Zoo, only about 30 minutes from Greensboro. We had a nice afternoon. Here's a shot of Keith and the girls posing on the trail.

Yep, it's a big house

Day 2 of our road trip landed us at Biltmore. This was the girls first trip, McKena enjoyed it, Marlee slept in her dad's arms most of the time, she wasn't as thrilled with all there was to see as us older folks were. It really is incredible to think how it was built over 100 years ago and had electricity, 43 bathrooms, and such a majestic setting.

All Aboard

We took a fun road trip in late June 09. My mom, dad, Mick, Marlee, Keith, and me headed toward Tweetsie for the day on Saturday then headed to Asheville for Biltmore House the next day. Dora and Diego were at Tweetsie for the weekend, so we spent about an hour and a half waiting in line for a photo opt. McKena ended up loosing a bottom tooth while we were there. And Marlee ran in to her best friend from daycare, Maddie and got to ride the train with her.

It was a super fun day.

Happy Father's Day!

The girls and Keith all got matching shirts in honor of Father's Day. Marlee thought it was great to have a shirt like her Sissy and Daddy. Marlee also lies to make those cheesy smiles in pictures these days.

Last Day of 2nd Grade

McKena finished up her favorite year in school - 2nd grade. She had a wonderful teacher, Mrs. Dyson, and came home every day excited about what they did that day.

Portrait Time

The girls went and had there pictures made in June. They just keep growing, and growing, and growing...

Let's Get Ready to Tumble

McKena finished up her Tumblebee's classes in June and here she is on the podium. Future Olympian?

LaLaLaLa, LaLaLaLa Elmo's World

Keith, Mick, Mar, and I went to see Sesame Street Live in May 09. This was Marlee's first "show" that she went to. We had a lot of fun.

Mother's Day Art

Marlee and I spent Mother's Day evening (our 3rd Mother's Day together:-)) painting some artwork. It is now proudly displayed on our living room wall. She loved her beautiful painting.

Patriot's Point

On our beach trip we drove down to visit Ft. Sumter and the USS Yorktown. Here's the family all smiles as we get ready to sight see.

Beach Trip - Ripley's Aquarium

We went on our annual beach trip to Myrtle Beach in May. We had the usual beach fun and here was a picture of the girls at the aquarium in front of the jellyfish.

A Hoppin' Good Time

We went to the Farmer's Market for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. However, the hunt consists of a swarm of kids dashing for eggs in the middle of the field which takes all of 20 seconds. Either way, it was a nice day and Marlee wasn't "scared" of the Easter bunny!

Mick Turns 8

Mick turned 8 in March 09. She had her party at Justice. The girls had a great time and finished the day at our house with pizza and ice cream. Hard to believe my baby just finished 2nd grade.

Second Grade Musical

McKena's 2nd Grade class and all of the other 2nd Grade Classes participated in a musical in February 2009 about recycling, etc. Very, very cute.
